Welcome back after the winter break! We hope you all had a lovely holiday and have come back to school refreshed and excited for the rest of the year!
Learning Journey
This week in our learning journey, we have been scientists! We have practised the important scientific skill of prediction and have begun making observations from our investigation to see whether our predictions were correct. Ask us at home to explain what we are investigating! We have also revisited the key skill of preparing a fair test. We have had to design a fair test ourselves, remembering all of the important details, and set the experiment up to carry out. It has been very interesting learning.
Well done to these learners who were our stars of the week this week!
In literacy this week, Year 4 have began studying a short story by Michael Morpurgo called The Giant's Necklace. We loved the excitement in the story and were completely shocked by the ending! Ask us to try to retell it to you! | In Year 3 this week our learning in maths has been focusing on place value. This is a hugely important area of maths and we have enjoyed furthering our understanding. We have become more confident at identifying the value of each digit in a 3-digit number, we have practised using estimation skills to place numbers on an empty number line and have used our knowledge to help us solve problems involving numbers with missing digits. In literacy we have been concentrating on a type of poetry called limericks. We identified the features of these poems, practised reading them aloud with expression and we have tried to create our own limericks as well. |
