We have been learning in TECHNOLOGY this week in Milepost 2 and have had a lot of fun. We have been practising the skill of using simple tools and equipment accurately by building some incredible shelters for our teddy bears!
Before we started building, we needed to think about where our bears lived and what kind of shelter they would need. Then, we had a go at planning how we were going to actually build it.
After all of that, the learning facilitators gave us small box of equipment and tools that we could use and we got to actually make our shelters. It was really tricky; we had to be really resilient and be super cooperators, but we think we did a great job!
Literacy
In literacy this week Year 3 have been concentrating on information texts. We have read lots of different types of information texts, used our enquiry skills to practise creating and answering questions about the texts and also had a go at taking notes effectively. All this is getting us ready to create our very own amazing information texts next week.
In Year 4 this week, our literacy learning has all been focussed on diary writing. Mr. Michael and Mr. Thabo have asked us to choose an ordinary, everyday object that we are pretending to be for the next week or two. It might be a toothbrush, a smelly sock, a football or a t-shirt, but we are trying to imagine being one of those things for a day! We have done a great job of using our thinkers and risk takers personal goals to help us come up with some great ideas and plans, now we can't wait to actually write our diaries!
Maths In maths in Year 3 this week, we have been carrying on with our learning about dividing. In a similar way to last week, we have loved creating potions for different amounts of people, but this time we have needed to scale them down by dividing all the quantities. Ms. Gemma and Ms. Jessica have even been challenging use to try to do some of this mentally which has been really tricky! In Year 4 we have also been practising our mental maths skills this week. We began the week by thinking about doubling and halving, but we have alsp practised adding and subtracting 1000's, multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100 and even rounding. We have played tots of games to practise these and it has been great fun and brilliant learning! | Interactive Resources has lots of great games to practise at home.
