We have carried on learning as scientists this week as we have found out lots of knowledge about why a healthy, balanced diet is important and about the effects of diet on our bodies. We have remembered the different food groups, identified how the foods we eat need to contain a balance of the groups and researched why certain foods are good or bad for us. Year 3 have had a wonderful time making their own 3D healthy plates using their creative skills alongside the learning they had doe to come up with some fantastic creations. Year 4 have used their enquiry skills to find out exactly why we need to eat fruits and vegetables, what it is about dairy that is good for us and lots more. They then used this knowledge to design some incredible food superheroes!
Year 4 have been thinking about adding tension to our writing this week in literacy. We have thought about different ways we can do this, about why it is important for our writing and about how we can make it effective. In maths this week we have been applying our adding and subtracting skills to amounts of money. Working both mentally and written, we have practised finding totals of money, calculating price differences and working out how much change we should be receiving from our shopping. | In Year 3 we have been thinking about persuasion this week in literacy as we have learned all about persuasive letters. We identified key features of these letters, thought about the kind of language we would use in them and had a go at writing a letter of our own. In our maths learning we have thought about finding different strategies to use when we are solving problems about addition. We learned about using place value, about doubles and number bonds all as different ways of helping us find the correct solution. |
