LEARNING JOURNEY
In our learning journey this week, Milepost 2 have been continuing our learning about Christopher Columbus. We have been thinking about SOCIETY and SCIENCE this week. In our SOCIETY learning, we concentrated on the different people involved in Christopher Columbus' voyages: Columbus, the crew, the King and Queen of Spain and the native Americans. We tried to consider the points of view of all of these different groups before, during and after the voyage. It was really interesting to find out about all of them.
In our SCIENCE learning this week we have been finding out about magnets. We have gained lots of knowledge about magnets, how they work and about magnetic fields. We have also had lots of fun, and did some great thinking as we classified different materials around the classroom and the school as magnetic or non-magnetic.
YEAR 4 | YEAR 3 In Year 3 this week we have been finishing off our work focused on the story The Tunnel by Anthony Browne. We have thought about the structure of the story, looked at the reasons that make it a great story and even had a go at planning and writing a story of our own. In our maths learning, we have been using the skills we have developed at solving addition and subtraction calculations to help us approach word problems. We have practised different methods for solving these problems, worked out how to identify if it is an addition or subtraction problem and even tried to write some word problems of our own for other children to try. Great learning. |
