This week we have been learning about our sense of touch! We have continued to learn as scientists and conducted an amazing experiment! We wanted to find out if we base how we feel temperature according to our current temperature. To do this we placed one hand is really cold water, one hand in warm water and left them there for 1 minute. Once a minute had passed we then placed both hands into a container of water which was at room temperature. The results were amazing! Our hand that had been in the very cold water insistently felt warm. The hand that had been in the warm water felt cold when we put it in water that was at room temperature! We found it really strange that our hands felt different temperatures and also found it strange that they could feel both warm and cold in the same container of water...the same container of water that was not hot and not cold..it was at room temperature! With some careful thinking we came to realise that our cold hand felt warm because it had been placed in water that was not warm but was at a higher temperature than our hand. Our warm hand felt cold because the water was not cold but at a lower temperature than our hand. Amazing thinking skills! We have been busy preparing for Child Led Conference this week. We loved choosing our learning to share with you and really enjoyed preparing to make sure we were fantastic communicators! We practised our communication skills with another class in MP1; our learning facilitators said we were really great listeners when pretending to be adults and asked our friends fantastic learning based questions! We absolutely loved sharing our learning with you! Thank you so much for coming and for getting involved with our optical photo booth! We emailed our learning facilitators the optical creations we made with you!
