IPC Learning Journey We continued our science learning this week by investigating which materials are best for making a toy car travel further down a ramp. We used our knowledge of fair testing to help us with the investigation and worked cooperatively to find the results. We discovered that smooth surfaces helped the car travel further as there is less friction. | |
Year 1 In LITERACY We received another letter from the Magic Toymaker! And this time he wanted to know all about our Entry Point. He asked us many questions about what we played with? Which toys we liked? In Year 1 we have been learning a lot about the past tense, lately. Since our entry point was a while ago, we had to write a letter in the past tense. We learnt that most verbs get –ed at the end, when you use them in the past tense. But… some verbs change differently! At the end of the week we wrote our own letter back to the Magic Toymaker and we’re now waiting to receive a letter back! Stay tuned…! In MATHS we have been looking at 3D shapes. We have examined five 3D shapes in detail... cube, cuboid, sphere, pyramid and cone. We have also examined real life 3D shapes around the school. What 3D shapes can you spot? | Year 2 In LITERACY this week we invited the Tiger for tea. He was wild and crazy and tried to make a big mess, but luckily there were a few brave risk takers who managed to calm the tiger down. Then we all sat down and demonstrated the personal goals; showing him how to behave and use his manners. We gave him short but polite commands to help him know what to do and he had lots of questions too. The Tiger was a quick learner and soon he was the one teaching us a thing or two about manners. In MATHS we have been detectives, trying to solve the mystery of the missing numbers! We found lots of different ways to find the missing numbers; using numicon to help us, counting on and using the inverse operation. |
