International Day 2019!
Lots of our Milepost 1 learners came dressed up in their national costumes to take flights from the iCAN International Departure lounge to many different countries. They tried amazing food in our international food court and visited different countries throughout the day.
A special thank you to all of the families who helped out on the day by providing a lot of yummy food or helping in the classrooms.
It was so fantastic to see so many people representing the wonderful international community of iCAN, you really made the day special!
Welcome back everyone!
This week we are revisiting some of the learning of our Seeing the Light unit. Some of us wanted to practise making electrical circuits again. While others used a range of sources to find out more facts about the world as part of Geography!
We also practised remembering all the things we know about light sources and sorted materials into: transparent, translucent and opaque.

The children are really looking forward to sharing their learning with you!
In Literacy we practised telling stories. Later we used puppets for the settings, objects and characters. The learners showcased lots of their creativity, which was fantastic!
We also worked very hard on reading tricky words (which you can't really sound out) but they are words that we come across very often in books and stories.
You can listen to some practise below:
This week in Literacy we have learned to turn our notes into full sentences and worked cooperatively to create a nocturnal animal fact file. We have practised our presentation skills, trying hard to speak in a loud, clear voice. Each team then got an opportunity to teach the rest of the class about their chosen animal.
