Book Week!
We had a brilliant book week this week to start off our new learning block.
The children practised acting out and telling stories with Mr J. They also helped decorating the doors in a specific book theme.
Have you already seen the story of Traction Man displayed in the corridor by the Year 2 classrooms?
And which stories written by Eric Carle can you see by the Year 1 classrooms?
We also had an amazing Bedtime Stories event last Tuesday! It has been so lovely listening to the stories read by some Middle Years students! In class the children practised making up their own stories using props, characters and settings. They also practised being enquirers by asking lots of questions about the story. Next week we will continue with writing our stories. We also have some lovely new reading corners in the Milepost 1 classrooms; like reading in a tent or a boat! Some of us even read by torch light! |
We have been writing speech bubbles and thought bubbles for various characters.
We have found that when a character's thoughts are different to what they say this can be very funny!
In Year 1 we are learning about fractions this week. First, we engaged in numerous fraction puzzles. Next, we learned about ½ , ¼ and some of us even learned about ¾ . We then made pictures of our understanding and finally we recorded what we learned about halves and quarters.
