Learning Journey
Ask us about the photos below! What were we doing with the balloon? Why are our heads on the table?
MathsThis week in Year 1 we've continued practising our multiplication skills. We learned what an array is by using objects like egg boxes, muffin baking trays, squared paper, ice-trays and blocks of stickers. This really helped us understand the meaning of arrays and helped us solve multiplication problems. In Year 2 we have been consolidating our multiplication learning. We did this through real life word problems. It was great to apply our knowledge and skills to help us better understand mathematical word problems. | LiteracyIn Year 1 we continued our descriptions about a spooky setting. First we drew our own pictures showing the outside and inside of a spooky house. We then labelled the images with adventurous adjectives. Finally we wrote our own creepy descriptions using adjectives, alliteration, and even similes. ooOOooo! Those of us in Year 2 have started a new unit of learning on extended narratives. This week we have started to read The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We have been focusing on the amazing opening to his story; created our own Iron Men/Monsters, described them using similes and metaphors and finished our week learning about clauses. All of this learning helped us to create the most amazing wanted posters! We were able to apply of our learning from the week to help us create a fantastic description of The Iron Man! |
