iCAN PLAY/Nursery
This week we revised all the jungle animals we have been exploring and learning throughout the past few weeks. The learners enjoyed listening to songs, stories and non-fiction video clips about jungle animals.
This week in maths we have been practising ordering numbers 0-9. We are also learning to add 2 digit numbers through number rhymes and songs. We have also been recognising and matching numbers to quantities through structured cooperative games.
This week in phonics we have been learning to tune into sounds using various games and resources such as ‘Metal Mike’ and flash cards. We have also been working hard on listening to different instruments being played.
We have been practising hard on segmenting three letter words and listening to the initial sounds in words.
iCAN PLAY learners had a wonderful time on their splashing Friday, splashing and sploshing in the water!
We enjoyed making moon pancakes! It was really yummy!
During our day openers we drew on the whiteboards pictures of how we feel. Afterwards, we shared it with our friends using the structure mix-pair-share.
Reception
This week we have been learning all about the stegosaurus. We looked at non-fiction books and used the internet to find out lots of information about the stegosaurus. We then used this information to write a fact file. We worked cooperatively to make a large stegosaurus using different textures. We have also been practising some songs about the triceratops and stegosaurus. We also worked collectively as a group incorporating all our personal goals in setting up our Dinosaurs role play area in our classroom.
We also drew pictures and wrote sentences to record what makes us happy for celebrating the World Happiness Day on 20th March.
We have been learning to differentiate between 2D and 3D shapes by talking about their properties.
In Phonics, we are recapping Phase 2 with two groups and introducing the sounds ‘sh’ and ‘th’ of Phase 3 sounds with the top group. The tricky words for the top group are ‘him’ and ‘his’.
