iCAN PLAY/Nursery
This week we continued exploring Space. We extended our knowledge learning about space by looking at non-fiction books and video clips. We have been having fun using our imagination in the role play area acting out as aliens and astronauts in space.
This week in maths we have been measuring and comparing sizes of things. We have been sorting shapes and learning their names. We began to explore the features of shapes by counting sides and corners. How many corners does a triangle have? How many sides does a square have?
This week we have been practising our skills on segmenting and blending three letter words using games on letters and sounds programme. We enjoyed feeding Metal Mike with words. We were also practising to sound out initial sounds in words playing various games using our sandpit area.
We continued practising writing our names on sand and glitter. We made marks with wheels on paint and glitter.
Reception
This week for our Entry Point we were visited by Goldilocks and Little Red Riding Hood. We hot seated them and were great enquirers, asking them lots of questions. We even got to taste some of the porridge that Goldilocks had taken from the Three Bears' cottage and it was just right! Little Red Riding Hood also gave us some of the cookies that she was taking to Grandma's house.
Math In maths we have been learning to count in 10s all the way to 100. We have been using a bead bar, a 100 number square and our fingers to support us to count in 10s. | Literacy We enjoyed lots of cooking this week. We made yummy porridge like the 3 Bears ate and also oatmeal cookies linked to our new sound, ‘oa’. |
