Learning Journey
Literacy
In Literacy Y6 have just started reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Wonder follows the story of Auggie who was born with a facial disfigurement due to a condition called Treacher-Collins syndrome. This week we have focused on understanding the difficulties that Auggie faces on a day to day basis. We have thought about how to develop empathy for other people using drama to explore the various viewpoints of different characters in the book.
Maths
In maths this week Y6 have begun looking at different types of measurements. We discussed the difference between length, mass and capacity and explored the ways to measure different things. We also practised converting between miles and km and discussed why we might need to do this. We worked out that when Mr Adrian and Mr Tom run 128km next weekend they will be running roughly 80 miles!
