Milepost 3 took part in a very exciting Entry Point this week. To get excited for our unit we dressed as aliens and humans of the future. 10,000 years in the future! This concept fits in with the theme of evolution and inheritance that we will be exploring throughout the unit. It was great to see the huge effort that people put into their costumes!
For our Knowledge Harvest we answered questions about evolution to discover what we already know. We followed this with Explaining The Theme where we discussed and looked at the range of topics we will be delving into this unit!
Year 5
In literacy we continued with our studies of the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This week we did in depth character studies and created profiles from the novel. We used a template to structure our thoughts and then searched the book looking for clues and bits to add to the profile.
Year 6
In maths we have continued to work on algebra. We have continued to practise our mental arithmetic. It has been wonderful to talk about the progress we have made since the beginning of the year and how much more confident we feel to draw on a range of strategies to solve mental maths problems.
