After getting in the Impressionist artists’ way of thinking, Year 8 learners have been painting freestyle out in the elements. First they practised Monet style in portraits, now they are practicing impressionist landscapes like Leonind Afremov. This then leads on to Georges Suarat’s invention of Pointillism…
For this unit, Year 8 have been working hard at trying to understand the applications of Newton’s Laws of Motion. In addition, we have been looking at the physics behind skydiving and how terminal velocity plays a key role in parachute designs. The learners were then given the task of creating 3 parachutes each made of different materials which had to reach the floor in the slowest time possible. With this task they were consolidating the key scientific skills of recording and representing data and using their scientific knowledge to explain the results of the experiment.
Year 8 have been learning what personal information is and how to keep this safe when online. They are also creating an infographic for either their home or host country. This is a completely new unit so in order to build up their knowledge, skills and understanding they created a short infographic for our school.
