Year 9 have been studying Ancient Greek tragedy, with a focus on Oedipus Rex. They have embraced the difficult challenge of restructuring plot ideas for their own tragic plays to meet the conventions of ancient tragedies and Aristotle's criteria for tragic heroes. This also involves learning to write appropriately for a new form: plays. Look out for videos of them performing their own plays, which will hopefully be coming soon!

Year 9 have spent the last 2 weeks creating the storyboard and the script of their stop motion project which will use characters developed with our visiting artist last month. This week we have moved on to the elaboration of the frames they´ll be using on the stop motion production on Learning Block 6.
At the same time learners are continuing with Duolingo assignments in their free time, practising with vocabulary, grammar and sentence structures.

We focused on this topic to work on the grammar and vocabulary through writing short paragraphs explaining differences of good and bad habits.

Humanities
Year 9 have been analysing a range of charts and graphs to see the different levels of development across the world. They have also been interpreting this data and trying to explain the reasons for the different levels of development looking at historical, socio-economic and geographical reasons. They have created their own line graphs using data from the human development index and compared and contrasted a range of countries within the region and beyond. They have been working hard to see the links with the big idea of ‘long lasting changes take place slowly over time’ and evaluating whether this is true.
