Year 9 have been looking at the slave trade triangle which operated during the 16th-19th century. They have completed an inquiry into how people were captured, treated and the working conditions on the plantations and have developed their knowledge as to why the slave trade began. Learners have been focusing on the effect that their conditions would have had on their sense of self.
Year 9 have thrown themselves into the "learning pit" in the last 2 weeks as they have been introduced to solving simultaneous equations. At times it was tough and everyone felt the challenge that needed to be overcome. However, through diligence, resilience and a positive attitude (as well as a bunch of trust in themselves as learners), they have all developed skills to climb out of the "pit".
