Year 9 are fully embracing the Big Idea that long lasting change takes place slowly over time. They have been reviewing, consolidating and extending their algebra skills from last year. Over the past 3 weeks, they have been learning how to expand double brackets and then complete the inverse operations by factorising quadratics back into double brackets. They demonstrated their adaptability and communication personal goals in both areas by completing a Tarsia puzzle. They then applied those skills to more abstract puzzles and have been starting to use algebra to construct proofs. We will be moving on to rearranging formulae, solving both linear and quadratic equations and finally spotting patterns to find the nth term of a quadratic sequence.
