The Year 9s started their entry point for their new Big Idea, Development, by watching the compelling documentary ‘Living on One Dollar’ which follows 2 friends trying to survive 52 days in rural Guatemala on only $1 a day. The learners then explored, through discussion, how much Cambodia is changing and whether everyone is experiencing this change as it moves from a Low Income Country (LIC) to a Lower Middle Income Country (LMIC). The learners were then taken to the LIGER Learning Centre where they witnessed firsthand how education is being used to combat poverty and stimulate long lasting change in the country.
