Year 9 learners are investigating the end of World War 1 and the Treaty of Versailles, to see if the treaty was fair and if the German people received justice for their part in World War 1. They have been practicing their historical source skills by using primary sources while also developing their skills of interpretation and historical essay writing.
Learners have explored and practised a number of different roles in basketball: players, captains, coaches and sports administrators. They chose a role that they were comfortable with and were responsible for taking the actions the role required throughout the entire unit. They were assessed on how well they understood, accepted and met the responsibilities of the role. Throughout the unit, teams were awarded points for accepting and carrying out the responsibilities that their role required. These points were accumulated and recorded in a league table. In the final task, teams entered a league competition and competed against the other teams in the class.
This week we have been doing our Exit Points for our first units. This is an opportunity for our learners to demonstrate their understanding about Responsibility- the Big Idea that they have based their learning around over the past 6 weeks.
Learners have been split into mixed year group teams and have been so supportive of each other, helping to tune and critique their teammates' work. We are looking forward to watching final presentations tomorrow. |
