Years 7, 8 and 9 are now using Edmodo which is an educational website that takes the ideas of a social network and refines them and makes it appropriate for a classroom. Using Edmodo, students and teachers can reach out to one another and connect by sharing ideas, problems, and helpful tips. Eventually, we will be inviting parents to take part in this online learning environment.
Year 9 are creating eSafety licences for the year 5s and 6s to use. In this fascinating project the learners are considering what is suitable to include on the license i.e. not including personal information. They have the freedom to choose which software to use to complete this project and they are working collaboratively, reinforcing their cooperation and communication skills. Year 9 have been reading ‘Of Mice and Men’. They have embraced the challenging task of analysing the language of the author and discussing the importance of particular devices that he uses. They are enjoying getting to know the characters and learning more about the contemporary context.
