Year 8 were whisked off to Phnom Penh's latest sporting craze for their 4th Entry Point of the year. Accompanied by six adults from school and met by 4 professional climbers at the Phnom Penh Climbers centre in Toul Tom Pong they were put through their paces on both the bouldering walls and vertical climbs.
We were given a comprehensive safety briefing and shown how to climb safely on the bouldering walls before spliting in top groups so we could practice on the bouldering walls and also take turns on the vertical walls.
On the vertical climbs we had a second safety briefing on how to climb with a harness and belaying. We learnt to trust the climbing process we were taught and consistently apply the correct behaviour to ensure everyone was safe throughout.
Most of us have climbed in Kids City or during our residential to Koh Chang - but this was a very different experience, especially the overhangs on the bouldering walls which a couple of boys managed to overcome!
