Learners in Year 7 have been exploring how animals adapt to various environments. Learners observed various bird beaks and got a chance to use various “bird beaks” themselves and collect data on which were the most effective for gathering various foods. Learners were also trained on how to use a microscope and captured several images of objects they observed on a microscopic level. Learners found and analyzed various samples ranging from string to centipede heads. Overall students greatly enjoyed this process. To wrap up the unit, learners built miniature foil rockets that they launched in order to practice data collection and analysis. It has been an active start to the year and the learners’ enthusiasm for science has made the science classroom a positive and engaging place to be.
