In Year 7 learners are creating voiceovers for animated shorts. For the script, we are mostly using simple sentences. Also, learners have been using questions and making use of the different interrogative pronouns. What’s more, they need to use the right verb conjugation depending on the personal pronoun, and also the tense. Finally, learners have also been using different prepositions, as they are absolutely crucial to dialogue.
Learners in Year 7 explored circuits and built their own miniature rooms with working lights and switches. Learners explored the difference between series and parallel circuits as well. Year 7 then went on to learn what it is like to live in space by learning about the International Space Station.
Year 7 are currently exploring the theme of Collaboration through volleyball. They have been developing the fundamental skills of setting, digging and underarm serving through a range of drills and games. They are working on their communication when receiving the ball and their ‘shuffle’ movement around the court. They are being really resilient whilst learning this challenging sport, and I look forward to many of them joining the volleyball team.
We have been investigating how women worked together to gain the vote. With it being the 100 year anniversary of the suffragette movement in the United Kingdom, the learners researched how women were treated during the Victorian period. They used primary sources to conduct research. The learners then investigated the methods used by the Suffragettes to gain the vote for women, and they gained knowledge about the key events in the movement by creating a timeline. Finally, the Year 7s have been working on their assessments and answering the question “Did voting make a difference?”
