Football Frenzy!
Learning Journey We have concluded the geography section of going global by looking at local, national, international business operating in Phnom Penh. We have begun history and are currently in the middle of a ‘TV home shopping network’ skits for ancient civilisations. Want to know what the ancient Egyptians thought were amazing fashion accessories? Or how much a Viking ling boat would set you back? Then don’t miss these adverts… coming soon! |
Year 5 Maths In maths we finished off the unit on time. This involved more complex word problems involving timetables. We have also started a revision of division; learning about mental division, written division including the bus stop method. | Year 5 Literacy In literacy we have integrated our writing with the unit Going Global. We edited and redrafted out Big Writes about our imaginary clothing company, ensuring that amazing adjectives and persuasive writing was throughout. |
We have really enjoyed writing our own poems this week building on the skills we have been practising. We have wrote both rhyming and non rhyming poems and had fun with the fact there are less rules in non rhyming poetry and really used our imagination to write poems about boring objects such as a felt tip!
Colours of the rainbow just a few
Black grey purple or pink
Bright and dark colours to make you think.
Children colour, adults mark
Highlighters can help you see in the dark.
Light blue is the colour of the sky
Don’t leave felts in the sun, or they die!
In maths this week children have been working on finding the circumference of circles using pi, and exploring faces edges and vertices of 3d shapes. Showing resilient and thinking skills, we worked out that there was a rule that linked faces vertices and edges.
Faces + Vertices – edges always = 2!!!! AMAZING!
