The Beginning of a Historical Unit!
Then it was time for our Knowledge Harvest. We firstly considered WHY we have a knowledge harvest and why it helped our learning. The next part of our knowledge harvest involved as thinking about what we already knew. We were given the task of matching civilisations to their dates and to images and then to a fact about the civilisation. None of us got them all right - which is good because it means we still have something to learn! Then we thought about what we WANTED to learn about. We use the structure Picking Stickies to do this. Our Learning Facilitators will use all of our ideas to help plan a unit that is based on what we would like to learn about! Amazing - we can't wait to get fully started next week!
Mathematical Marvels!
Year 6 began the week by considering mental strategies when working with larger numbers. They worked hard and were able to explain a range of successful strategies that they could use. Then they moved on to learnina about brackets in calculations and what these meant. Following this they began to consolidate their work with money. Amazing learning Year 6!
Literacy Learning.
Year 6 have been reflecting on what they have learnt through all of the writing workshops over the last learning block. They created fact files to share the tips which they through were the MOST important ones. Then, using all of their new skills, they planned and then wrote a short story using an image for inspiration. Could you create a story from the image below?
