Maths Learning
Last week year 6 were learning about rounding decimal numbers to the nearest whole number as well as the nearest tenth and hundredth. This week we have been learning all about area and perimeter and how to calculate this in compound shapes. This can be tricky as you need to turn the shape into more that one regular shape and then calculate all the parts BUT we have been practising our skills with this with our growth mindset heads on and are growing in our abilities with this!
In year 5 we have been learning all about factors and multiples. We now know the difference between these and are able to calculate factors and multiples of a range of numbers. Ask us some questions at home! We have also been consolidating our learning on our times tables, it is so important that we have a solid understanding of these to help us in our future mathematics learning! We have been working on improving both the speed and accuracy of our recall. Continuing our multiplication learning we have also been learning a range of different methods in which to solve multiplications including grid method, column method and mentally! Great learning in year 5!
