Literacy Super Stars!
Year 6 have been continuing with their writing workshops and are already showing signs of being emergent authors! This week they have been focusing on learning all about characterisation, especially SHOWING and not TELLING in their writing. This means that you should be able to learn about a character through the way they act and talk rather than through a boring description on what they are wearing! Then we moved on to settings and how to bring them alive. Fantastic learning Year 6, keep it up!
Magic in Maths
Year 6 have been learning all about measurement this week. They have been learning how to convert between different measurements. They have been converting between miles and kilometers and answering word problems using their skills! Do you know what the following four countries have in common:
MYANMAR
LIBERIA
UK
USA
Ask your Year 6 learners if you are right!
The End of Science! Learning Journey.
Our next lesson was all about us showing our understanding at the end of our science learning. To do this we needed to draw, label AND explain three different fairground rides, showing what forces were at work in each of them. We also recalled some scientific vocabulary linked to our fairgrounds learning, such as: centrifugal force, centripetal force, water displacement and repel.
Fantastic science learning milepost 3 - next week, TECHNOLOGY!
