The end of Learning Block 3...
Have a happy holidays! Wow, these first three learning blocks have certainly flown by! What a great start to the year full of lots of learning and fun. This week has also been super busy. We have enjoyed the school disco, a visit to Aeon to buy ingredients and Maths Day where we practised our measuring skills, creating christmas kebabs and chocolate snowballs! Also, a huge congratulations to all those who participated in the swim meet at the Olympic Pool on Saturday! This week in Learning Journey we have been thinking about global air circulation and clouds. Have a watch of the video to help consolidate your understanding of the wind cycle. | |
Maths
Year 6 have been developing our understanding of measuring. In preparation for Maths Day, we have been practising our measuring skills and ensuring that we can convert measurements when neccessary. We visited Aeon Mall on Tuesday afternoon to purchase items ahead of Maths Day. We had to work as a team to buy our ingredients with a budget of $5 per team.
Literacy
| This week in Year 6 our learners have finally finished reading Demon Dentist and have started writing a review of the novel. It was interesting to see a range of mixed opinions. There were lots of things we liked about the story such as the humour and the way that David Walliams' brings characters to life. However, some of us felt that the ending was too sombre. Watch the interview with David Walliams to find out what inspired him to write Demon Dentist. |
In Year 5 our learners have continued to finish their recounts about their trip to Kep and Kampot (it feels as though that was ages ago now). We worked on finishing our recounts and then focused on editing and improving using the detailed feedback from our Learning Facilitators to help us. Editing our own work is a really important skill and helps us to identify areas of impreovements. Have a look at a great example of one of our recounts. |
