Milepost 3 will be holding their Exit Point for their fantastic unit, FAIRGROUNDS, on Thursday 7th April from 8.15 - 9.45am. We can't wait to see you all there and to share all of our learning with you! Come along and join in the Fairground fun!
INTERNATIONAL DAY is coming up on Friday 8th April! All the learners in MP3 are excited to visit and learn about different countries during the day, and enjoying all of the offerings at our international food court! It would be great to see as many learners as possible dressed up representing their own countries on the day! Thank you, as always, for your support with this!
Mathematical Marvels!
Fantastic maths learning from everyone in Milepost three this week! Year 6 have been continuing their learning about shape. They began the week by consolidating their skills at using a protractor to measure angles. We are all showing a great improvement in our accuracy with this! Then we moved on to using our knowledge of shapes to help us draw them. What knowledge and skills do you think we would need to help us draw a square? What about a different quadrilateral? - If you are not sure, ask any Year 6 learner to help you! In 5P the learners have been looking at geometry. The features of circles -the radius, diameter and circumference. They have also been consolidating their skill of using a compass and have been designing their own geometric patterns. In 5N the learners have been learning about timetables and have been converting time from the 12 hour to the 24 hour clock. This is VERY useful learning as we use it so much in everyday life too! |
Year 6 - practise your angles with the alien angle game. | Year 5 - click below to play a game to consolidate your learning about time! |
Kaleidoscopes and Mapping - what a week of learning!
Another amazing and busy week of learning in Milepost three! We began the week by completing our technology games. At times it felt like we would never get there but, WE DID! And we can't wait to share them with you at our exit point. Then we continued our technology learning by creating kaleidoscopes. We watched a video on how to do this and then created our own! To show we were developing we had to follow instructions but without any help. Mastering meant we couldn't have instructions and had to be independent! They look fantastic and they certainly required us to be accurate when creating them! Then we moved onto learning through geography. We were consolidating our mapping skills and our learning was linked into Disney theme parks! We located where these all were around the world, looked at examples of maps of these parks and then created our own imaginary theme park maps! It was great fun and allowed us to really develop our mapping skills. Great learning from everyone in Milepost 3! |
Literacy Learning.
There has been some fantastic literacy learning happening across the whole of milepost three this week! Year 6 have been continuing with their writing workshops. This week we have been furthering our learning about paragraphing. We have focused on the difference between a RESOLUTION and an ENDING - would you be able to explain the difference? We are never EVER going to use, 'It was all a dream,' again! We have also been learning all about writing action paragraphs. This can be challenging as you need to make them engaging for the reader and not just a list of things that happened. Of course, as we are working so hard to be incredible writers, our versions were very impressive! Year 5 have been learning all about Myths and Legends this week. They have used the structure, Read and Review, when reading different examples. The learners in Year 5 have then been looking at the features of these stories and then have begun indepth studies on some of the stories. What is the setting? Who are the characters? What moral comes from the story? What is the storyline? Who are the villains or heros? Do you know any myths or legends from your home country? It would be great to share these with your Year 5 learners if you can! |
