This week in Milepost 3
This week in literacy we have used the Story Emporium website to explore Phil the Storyteller's range of fairy tales. We thought about we could adapt traditional tales with a modern twist. We had ideas such as replacing the hare and tortoise with a Yamaha and a tuk tuk to a Cinderella who rides a drone instead of a carriage to the ball! In maths we have been thinking about CIRCLES! We practised skills such as drawing a circle using a set of compasses and finding the radius of a circle. | Year 5 In maths we have been learning all about shapes! We began looking at different types of triangles and classifying these by looking at their individual properties. We then moved on to quadrilaterals and identified the properties of each of these. This week in literacy we have taken inspiration from story teller Phil and have been learning how to effectively tell stories orally. We started thinking about what makes a successful story teller and learnt how to capture and maintain an audience, just using our voices. In class, we had loads of fun acting out different characters and using ten second story retelling frames to practise our improvisation skills. |
