IPC
Year 4
Literacy | Maths |
This week in literacy we have been consolidating our writing skills by writing good copies of our own Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stories that we wrote. This task allows us to reflect on our writing, learn from our mistakes and improve our stories. We have been using dictionaries to check our spelling and peer-assessing each others work so we can help give next steps and feedback. Please have a read next week, they will be on display in the corridor outside the Year 4 classrooms. | In maths, Year 4 have been learning all about negative numbers. We know that negative numbers exist in the real world and have been using these contexts to deepen our understanding. We know that we need to understand about negative numbers so we can read temperatures on a thermometer, measure depth below sea level, and discuss money and what happens when we go below $0 on our bank accounts. We have also been practising ordering numbers on a number line, including negative numbers! |
Year 3
Literacy 3J have been getting to know their new learning facilitator, Mr J. They have been writing about themselves so that Mr J can get to know them better. They have been learning about conjunctions and how to make themselves sound interesting using a variety of techniques including fantastic adjectives. 3T has been writing recounts about their holiday, with a focus being on using the correct tense and fantastic adjectives to make their stories interesting. | Maths Year 3 have been revisiting the basic concept of addition and multiplication and learning to prove what they know by showing on a number line and teaching their friends what they have learnt. |
Throughout this week we will be celebrating our love of books, reading and stories by holding lunchtime book swaps, listening to stories during break and lunch and decorating our classroom doors and areas with a book theme. We are also really lucky to be having a special guest come and visit us next week...Mr Phil the storyteller! After the success of his storytelling last year, he is returning to iCAN with a bank of new stories to share. Some of them may be a little chocolaty!
