We have been really excited in Milepost 2 this week because we have started our new Bright Sparks unit! This unit is all about electricity and we have certainly been full of energy this week!
Electricity is a type of energy. We use electricity in our lighting and heating, TVs and computers, cars and trains, toys and games – even clocks and watches use electricity. In today’s world, most people use electricity every single day. We would find it difficult to live without electricity. But how does electricity really work? That's what we are going to find out!
Literacy This week in Year 4 we have been learning all about letter writing. We have thought about why people write letters, have read lots of examples of letters and have learned all of the key features of letters. We have also started planning a letter of our own to write and we will finish this off next week. In Year 3, we have continued our learning about poetry this week. Using the poem 'My Senses Are All Backwards' as inspiration we have come up with our own silly senses poems. | Maths This week, Year 3 have been learning all about money! We have tried converting between riel and dollars and even thought about taking away from an amount presented in riel. It was tricky, but we tried really hard! In Year 4, we have been practising our division. We begun the week by remembering the strategies we learned for division in Year 3. After that we moved on to practising using some new written methods of division. We have done a great job of practising this skill! |
