Welcome back to a new year at iCAN!
We are looking forward to a wonderful year in Milepost 2 and have lots of fantastic learning experiences coming up!
The new Milepost 2 team
To begin our year the children in Milepost 2 have jumped head first into our Brainwave IPC unit.
Stars of the Week
This week in Year 4 has been all about settling back in to being at school and practising lots of the skills that we learned last year.
In LITERACY we have been practising using the past tense and trying to begin our sentences in different ways as we have written about our own summer holidays. We then became a bit more creative and had a go at making up a fantastic imaginary holiday that we had been on.
In MATHS we have been concentrating on place value to make sure we remembered what we learned in Year 3. We have partitioned numbers into their units, tens, hundreds and thousands, have practised using the greater than and less than symbols and thought hard about placing sets of numbers into the correct order.
Great learning to begin the year!
This week has been very exciting for Year 3 as we have started getting used to being part of Milepost 2. We have had to start becoming much more independent about our learning and have done a great job!
In LITERACY we have been thinking about writing recounts to practise using the past tense and also make sure we keep our ideas in the correct order. To help us with this, we have had an amazing time watching the incredible events at the Olympics. We especially loved watching the 100m final and then recounting what happened.
In MATHS we have been making sure we understand 2-digit numbers by partitioning them into tens and units, by placing them into the correct order on a number line and by looking at bigger and smaller numbers. We have even begun looking at some word problems! What super learning.
