We were all excited to begin our new unit The Magic Toymaker this week. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw all the toys and games the toymaker had brought us to play with for our entry point. Who could this mysterious character be?
It was so much fun! We made sure we demonstrated lots of personal goals whilst testing out the toys; respect, resilience and cooperation! We gave each toy a rating from 1-5 stars and we tried to be as fair as possible. We hope the toymaker is happy with the results. We can't wait to find out what else we will be learning over the next few weeks.
I wonder if the toymaker will pay us another visit.
Year 1 In LITERACY we started learning about riddles. Lots of us didn’t know what a riddle was, so that was definitely new knowledge for us! On Family Learning Day we were so lucky to have our parents in and joining us on a hunt for clues. With your help we found lots of answers of many animal riddles. We also started learning how to describe toys, by doing 'Find Someone Who' about many different kinds of toys. Keep in touch as Year 1 will be writing riddles about toys next week! In MATHS we have been measuring classroom objects with a ruler and ordering them according to size. It can be quite tricky using a ruler, we have to look very closely but we were all very resilient. | Year 2 In LITERACY this week we have been reading 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'. First, we discussed how we felt at the end of the story. Some felt happy because the tiger left Sophie and her mum alone and didn't return to eat more food. Others felt sad because they didn't want the tiger to be lonely. We then acted out what might happen if a tiger came to our house for tea. What a surprise that would be! In MATHS this week we have been busy learning about 3D shapes. On Family learning day our mums and dads came to help us make 3D shapes out of nets. We had lots of fun predicting what 3D shape the nets would make. We continued our learning by finding the properties of 3D shapes and used this information to help us sort the shapes into groups. |
MP1 would like to say one last big thank you to all the adults who came a joined in with our learning this week on Family Learning Day. It was great fun having you with us and we hope to see you again next time.
