How many different languages do you use at home?
Can you speak fluently in more than 1/ 2 languages?
How many different ways can we say Hello/ goodbye/ how are you/ thank you
In SCIENCE this week we have been checking the results to all our experiments. There were some surprises too ...take a look at the photo of the plant we left in the cupboard. When we compared it to the other plants left on the windowsill we could see how the plant without sunlight looked very unhealthy. Can you see the white stem and small yellow leaves. That's because plants need sunlight to help produce food. Without sunlight the green chemical found in plants (called Chlorophyll) can't react so the plant remains white.
Year 1 In LITERACY we finished off our non-fiction booklets about bees. We had a look at our toolkit to think about the things to put in our book. Lots of us have written captions and labels in our booklets and have made beautiful illustrations about the life cycle of the bee. We also learnt about pollination and in which continents the bee lives! Some of us even read their own book in the Family Drop-in session last Tuesday! In MATHS Year 1 conducted some mathematical research about 'favourite pets' and produced a tally chart showing the results. We also examined new vocabulary linked to tally charts e.g. most popular and least popular. | Year 2 In LITERACY we have been writing our own call and response poems about how special the rain is in Lila and the Secret of Rain. We used the best vocabulary that we could and used our senses to help us imagine what the rain would have felt like in Kenya. We rehearsed these poems and added sound using instruments and then performed them to each other. In MATHS we have been telling the time. We recapped telling the time to the hour and half hour and then practised quarter past and quarter to (our knowledge of fractions came in very handy). We also learnt about lengths of time, e.g. seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years! Can you think of when you use time to help you? Maybe to arrive somewhere on time or not be late! |
