International Mindedness
We also received a special voice message, and some photos, from Ms. Lily's uncle.
He studied as a marine biologist in Antarctica for 2.5 years!
There is even a lake named after him!
In literacy we needed to revisit some grammar and punctuation. The children practised putting ? ! and full stops in the right place. We also matched up present, and past tense, verbs. The irregular past tense verbs were especially tricky! We practised writing upper- and lowercase so we can clearly see the difference between capital letters and the other letters. We also revisited our learning about plurals. We found out some plurals end with -s, or -es and -ies. Finally, we read a lot of comic books and then made our own stories. We were trying to use all of the grammar and punctuation which we had learned about this week. |
In Year 2 literacy we have started learning about poetry. First we explored a range of poems linked to light and dark. Next, we highlighted important vocabulary and different features, such as onomatopoeia and rhyming words. Then, we used different sources to help us complete a spider-gram full of interesting vocabulary to describe fireworks. We worked together to create our own fireworks poems. We will publish our poems and display them with our learning about Festivals of Light for International Mindedness. In maths we've been learning the names of 3D objects. We made 3D objects out of nets and have also started to learn the features of different 3D objects. |
