We have been busy bees learning all about the world and it's continents this week in GEOGRAPHY. To find out more we used different sources to learn about each continent and different countries within. We also looked at how the monarch butterfly migrates from Canada to Mexico during the winter months to hibernate.
Listen to the song below to find out more.

Year 1 In LITERACY we have had lots of fun reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. After reading the story we talked a lot about the story; about the food the caterpillar eats and how he changes into a butterfly. We also had a go in drawing the setting, as this is where the story takes place. Next week we will continue learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar and start to use adjectives! Do you want to listen to the story at home? In MATHS we have been working on measure. We had to organise different sized caterpillars according to length and measure the exact length using a ruler. We also collected different objects in class and measured the length in cm. | Year 2 In LITERACY we have continued our learning based on the story Oliver's Vegetables. We used persuasive language to try and get Oliver to eat more vegetables. Then we started to think about our own version of the story. We thought about our character's personality and their likes and dislikes. We had to be risk takers again and this time tried different fruits that our character may like ...or not! We used our senses to describe the fruit using specific adjectives. Next week we are excited to write our own version of the story. In MATHS this week we have been speaking, drawing and writing our own subtraction words problems. We have also been looking at doubling and halving numbers, we even played a fun board game that has helped us practise these skills. |
