Learning Journey
MathsThose of us in Year 1 have been practising our sentences; remembering capital letters and full stops. We even used conjunctives to extend our sentences and added lots detail. In Year 2 we have been applying our multiplication and division skills to help us understand word problems! We consolidated our learning of multiplication and division and then practised solving real life word problems. We had to read the text carefully and firstly decided if the question required us to solve it through multiplication or division. We then had to create a number sentence based on the information given to us in the word problem and finally we used our skills to solve the sum! Now we definitely have a better understanding of real life word problems in maths! | LiteracyIn Year 1 we have been have been busy looking at 3D shapes. We used our prior knowledge of 2D shapes to help us remember the properties of 3D shapes. We went on a shape hunt around school and found lots of shapes. We then sorted these shapes into different groups e.g. curved faces/straight faces/both. Those of us in Year 2 have been learning about direct speech in narrative text. We learned about inverted commas (speech marks) and how we use them when writing direct speech. We created comics inspired by scenes from Mama Panya's Pancakes and then turned our speech in the speech bubbles into direct speech using fantastic alternative words for said and amazing adverbs! |
