We started our new unit Flowers and Insects with an 'Ugly Bug Ball' Entry Point. We made our bug costumes and had lots of fun exploring the school garden for insects and other creepy crawlies! We made bug biscuits and danced to the coolest bug bands. We even got to make our very own super bug!!!

We can't wait to learn more about flowers and insects when we start our first subject in this unit next week.
Year 1 In LITERACY we we have been learning all about rhyme: words that sound the same. Here is a link to a game which you can try at home! http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks1bitesize/literacy/rhyme/maincontainer_001.swf We read lots of poems and stories which include rhyme. It was great fun learning the different sounds and rhymes. We have done lots of games to identify and find rhyming words. We even made up our own version of Humpty Dumpty using rhyming words! In MATHS we have been looking at numbers above 20 and working out one more and one less. We were really resilient and tried our best! | Year 2 In LITERACY we have been retelling the story of Oliver's Vegetables. Oliver was very resilient and never gave up trying to find the potatoes in Grandpa's garden. He was also a good risk taker because he tried lots of new vegetables. We got to be risk takers just like Oliver and tried some of Grandpa's vegetables ....they were DELICIOUS! We used our senses to describe the different flavours, textures and smells with as much detail as possible. In MATHS we have been busy finding different ways to make numbers. There are just so many we couldn't stop! We also showed our thinking skills when we played 'Strike It Out' which was lots of fun! To recap the rules and play at home follow the clip below. |
