This week we had our entry point to introduce our new topic for this learning block Animals Around the World. We had fun observing and exploring animals from different continents. We had fun decorating cupcakes with animal faces and we enjoyed eating them afterwards - yummy! We also had fun exploring different Tuff Spot trays with animals from around the world.
LITERACY In phonics we continued practising our letters and sounds in groups. We have been working hard on our initial sounds and blending three letter words through various games and activities. We have also been busy practising to write our name on sand, shaving foam and glitter. | MATHS This week we have been using our super powers to add and take away through songs, rhymes and games. The learners have been comparing how much containers can hold and using language related to capacity. We have also been using mathematical opposites such as big or small, tall, short or long and wide or narrow through pictures and games on the interactive whiteboard. http://www.crickweb.co.uk/Early-Years.html |
We have had a fun week back at school this week. We had our Entry Point to introduce our new topic of Traditional Tales. We were so lucky to have two very special visitors: Goldilocks who came to tell us all about the Three Bears and gave us some yummy porridge to eat, and Little Red Riding Hood who told us all about the Big Bad Wolf. She gave us some delicious cookies to eat. We asked them lots of questions and enjoyed spending time with them.
We have been looking at the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears this week, we have been busy sorting sizes of bowls, chairs and beds from the Three Bears' cottage and we even made porridge!
In Maths this week, we have been trying our best with halving. We have halved different objects as well as halving our class and enjoyed Frooby the Dragon's help with halving too.
In phonics - Ms. Niumai’s group have been recapping phase 2 phonics and have been learning diagraphs /ng/ and /ai/.
Ms. Gemma’s group are looking at letter sounds, blending CVC words and trying to read captions.
Ms. Vijaya’s group are looking at diagraphs /or/ and /ur/.
In guided reading we are trying to read in groups and discussing stories. We discussed and drew our exciting holiday news in our writing journal.
