Learning Journey This week we have been continuing our topic of “Mini-beasts” by learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We enjoyed looking at powerpoints, songs, stories and pictures of butterfly. We have been busy making the life cycle of a butterfly using pastas, lentils and dry twigs. We also used our phonic skills to write the initial sounds of the different stages of the life cycle. We shared the story and later watched the video of the very hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle. Later we watched the video of the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. We enjoyed doing an activity trying to recollect what the caterpillar ate during the different days of the week.
Literacy In phonics we have been revisiting all the letter sounds, tricky words and high frequency words of Phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. We are learning to segment and blend CVC words and have been using magnetic letters and boards to spell three letter words. We also continue using wow words in sentences for Big Talk and we have been trying to read words in our guided reading lessons using the big books. We made a caterpillar using green circles and wrote our names on it.
We learned about the different days of the week and what activities we do on each day. We also discussed about their favourite day and why. We also counted how many times we could jump or clap our hands in one minute.
| Next weeks Talk topic is.............Dreams Why do we have dreams? Why are dreams so weird? Why do they get scary? Many cultures believe what we dream about affects our real life and that we can read our dreams. What do you think about this? |
